Join Open Door Policy in Logan, Utah, on Oct. 18 at the Checkered Garage

It’s been a hell of a year…

Hey there everyone. I hope you’re doing well there. It has been a wild year. This last month has felt particularly insane. I hope you are all keeping your loved ones close and finding / building mutual aid networks. If there’s any way I or Open Door Policy can contribute or help, let me know.

As for Open Door Policy?

We’re gearing up for what will probably be our last show of the year. We have a brand new song for you. It’s challenging me vocally, which I love. Hopefully I don’t mess it up in front of you (or if I do, hopefully you’ll give me some grace!)! I really love it though and can’t wait to share it with you!

Come check us out at The Checkered Garage on October 18 at 6PM!

(Sorry to get a bit political, but please make sure to attend the No Kings protest earlier that day at 1PM at the Cache County Courthouse.)

Big Sis, Open Door Policy, and Window Club: October 18, 2025, in Logan at The Checkered Garage

What is The Checkered Garage?

The Checkered Garage is a DIY venue in the heart of Logan. With a quaint and beautiful outdoor space + fun indoor stage and dance floor, I am stoked to be able invite you all to join Open Door Policy, Big Sis, and Window Club for an intimate and fun night of community and camaraderie.

I’m hoping The Checkered Garage will become our new home. If you haven’t heard, I’m slowly but surely trying to build out a cohesive sense of community around Open Door Policy and possibly some of the other things I’m doing (such as my newish Rock This World podcast).

The Open Door Collective

This effort is something I’m terming the Open Door Collective. Ultimately, one of the goals of this collective, and Open Door Policy, going forward, is to stop doing the grind of searching, booking, marketing, and playing shows in spaces or formats where it can be hard to build community and real connection.

Instead, I’m hoping to keep things closer to home — playing small, invite-only shows where good friends can really connect and enjoy a night of music together.

If I’m lucky and there’s enough money, I’d love for that to include bringing bands I love up from SLC so that my friends in Logan can enjoy some of the great acts I’ve come across south of us.

Tell all your friends

In any case, this blog post has no doubt gone on too long. Thank you to those who have read this far. If you like what I’m saying, please share the form to join the Open Door Collective with those you trust and love.

Peace.
